The North East Round of the Price Media Law Moot Court Competition is held on 13-15 December in Kyiv. The students of various law schools will compete in the form of moot court. The winners will proceed to the Final Round of the Competition, which takes place in Oxford, UK. The registration is already opened!
The regional round will be organized by Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law in partnership with National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and University of Oxford. The Regional Rounds in Kyiv will be held for the fourth consecutive year.
The Price Media Law Competition is carried out in the form of moot court (namely, model of the court proceeding). One team delivers its position as applicant, while the opposing one plays for respondent. The participants are competing not only in legal writing skills, but also in oral pleadings during the debates. Therefore, in addition to testing the knowledge of media law, students are showing the ability to apply it on practice.
The main topics of the competition involve the most debatable aspects of the media law sphere. To exemplify, the task of this year’s Final Round involved blocking of the social media platforms and responsibility for hate speech.
The team for the competition involves the students from law school and their coaches. Each team can have from 2 to 6 players. This year the Regional Round covers such countries as Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Poland.
To join the competition participants shall fill in the form following the link below: http://moot20.azurewebsites.net/competition/37/registration-forms/teams.
