Government Plans to Set Up Public Service Broadcasting and Denationalization of Press in 2015

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine included publicservice broadcasting, denationalization of press as well as start ofinternational broadcasting into the Government action plan for 2015-2016 years.

These actions’ directions were included intorespectful document that was adopted on today’s Cabinet’s meeting as parts ofinformational policy of Ukraine. They ought to be reached as a part of “newsecurity policy” in 2015. What is interesting: “information security” islimited with mentioned directions according to the governmental program.

Introduction of electronic identification andelectronic signature of a citizen as well as adoption of the Law on open data (asparts of electronic government) are also included into Government action planfor 2015-2016 years.

Such items of Parliamentary Coalition Treatywere not included into Government action plan for 2015-2016 years:

  • Strengthening of responsibility for interference of journalists’ activity;
  • Liquidation of Commission for Moral protection as a state institution;
  • Provision of transparency and demonopolization of media property.

We remind that such obligations as: full startof public service broadcasting; denationalization of state and municipalprinted mass media; strengthening of responsibility for interference ofjournalists’ activity, including press photographers and cameramen; liquidationof Commission for Moral protection as a state institution; provision oftransparency and demonopolization of media property, particularly fixingstatutory bar to possess Ukrainian mass media for companies, registered inoffshore zones – were included in the text of Parliamentary Coalition Treatythat has initialed on the 21st of November.
