Olha Petriv

Olha Petriv is an AI lawyer at the Center for Democracy and Rule of Law (CEDEM), a member of the AI Development Committee of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, a representative of CEDEM at the Council of Europe’s Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI), and the founder of an AI startup. Her work focuses on promoting ethical and responsible use of technology and shaping effective AI policy in Ukraine and beyond.

As a member of the AI Development Committee under the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Olha contributed to the development of key national documents, including Recommendations on the Use of AI in Media, Guidelines on Intellectual Property and AI, the AI Development Roadmap, and Recommendations for AI Developers. She is also part of the Ethical and Legal Working Group developing Ukraine’s National Large Language Model under the Ministry.

As CEDEM’s representative, Olha participated in the work of the Council of Europe’s Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI), contributing to the drafting of the Council of Europe Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law. She proposed amendments aimed at strengthening legal protection throughout the AI system lifecycle.

In Ukraine, Olha coordinates the AI self-regulation process, which resulted in the creation of the Code of Conduct on AI, signed by 14 leading Ukrainian IT companies, including Grammarly Ukraine, MacPaw, Uklon, DroneUA, Preply, LUN, SoftServe, and others.

Alongside her expert work, Olha actively promotes AI literacy and awareness. She has conducted numerous lectures and trainings for journalists, civil society representatives, public sector officials, educators, and youth. She also lectured on behalf of UNESCO for high school students and teachers, and has been a speaker at various national and international events, including the Internet Governance Forum in Norway.

Olha is the founder of the AI startup “Mahaon” and an active member of Ukraine’s tech community.
