8th of December 2015 during the second reading the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the law on Foreign Broadcasting System (No. 2334a). The bill initiated the formation of “Multimedia Foreign Broadcasting Platform of Ukraine”. This multimedia platform is created on the basis of state TV and Radio “World Service “Ukrainian Television and Radio Broadcasting Television” and is subordinated to the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
The head of the newly formed multimedia platform is the general director who is appointed by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine on a competitive basis. The composition of the Supervisory Board is proposed by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine (MIP) and approved by the Cabinet Ministers of Ukraine.
Envisaged the multimedia platform is to be funded from the state budget in the size of not less than 0, 06 percent of expenses of the general fund of State Budget of the previous year.
In order to renew its activities in accordance with the decision of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, the multimedia platform receives its license to broadcast (including broadcasting channels), owned by the State TV and Radio “World Service “Ukrainian Television and Radio.”
