From April 23 to May 2, 2020, the First Module of the Mentorship Program was held to strengthen the advocacy capabilities of civil society organizations from different parts of Ukraine.
During the week, 15 mentee organizations underwent online training, lectured by experienced civil society experts.
THE FIRST TRAINING BLOCK FOCUSED ON THE BELOW PROBLEMS:
- Advocacy and the cycle of change
- Advocacy goals and objectives
- Tools for working with needs and problems
- Analyzing the political landscape.
The speakers for this part of the training were Taras Shevchenko, Director of the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law, and Yuliia Solokha, advocacy expert.
The second block of the training of the mentee organizations concerned the study and formation of problems that the participants of the program would like to solve in the future. Olena Matviichuk, Mentorship Program coordinator and community development expert, organizational coach, and Kateryna Yeroshenko, project coordinator of the Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation, shared their experience.
The participants of the training program will now study their chosen problem that they want to solve, as well as start active cooperation with their mentors. Another training module and the development of an advocacy campaign await them very soon.
The Mentorship Program is implemented by the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law (CEDEM) within the Ukraine Civil Society Sectoral Support Activity, which is implemented in cooperation with the Consortium of the Initiative Center to Support Social Action “Ednannia” and Ukrainian Center for Independent Political Research (UCIPR) with the sincere support of the American people through United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
