CEDEM actively promotes the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies in the media, journalism, and other fields. CEDEM experts conduct training sessions, webinars, and lectures on the application of AI tools, as well as develop analytical materials on the challenges and opportunities of using artificial intelligence, particularly regarding personal data protection, deepfakes, information manipulation, and more.
In addition to educational initiatives, CEDEM, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Expert Consultation Committee on the Development of the Artificial Intelligence Sector, has initiated the development of a Voluntary Code of Conduct for the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
The Voluntary Code of Conduct includes 8 key principles for the ethical and responsible use, creation, and management of artificial intelligence systems. These principles include: a risk-oriented approach, safety and reliability, privacy and data protection, fairness and equality, transparency, human oversight and monitoring, leadership and awareness development, and intellectual property. Each principle is accompanied by recommendations for practical implementation.
Companies, organizations, and initiatives that seek to demonstrate their commitment to ethical AI standards can join the Code. To do so, it is necessary to contact the AI lawyer at the Center for Democracy and Rule of Law, Olga Petriv, at the following address: o.petriv@cedem.org.ua.
