European integration

European integration is not only a strategic choice for Ukraine, but also a key instrument for transforming the state and building a legal system based on the values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. For the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law, it is also an opportunity to amplify the voice of civil society in shaping reforms. CEDEM is a part of Ukraine’s negotiation process for EU accession  – our experts are members of four negotiating groups (covering FDI chapters 4, 10, and 23). We participate in developing Ukraine’s legal positions, analyze European Commission documents, prepare proposals, and officially submit them to the government. We monitor reform roadmaps and work on materials necessary for constructive dialogue with the European Commission.

Our work aims to ensure that the process of European integration is open, transparent, and citizen-oriented, safeguarding their rights and interests. We believe that engaging the expertise of civil society will accelerate Ukraine’s path to EU membership, protect citizens’ rights, and make Ukraine stronger.
